Spring?
As of Friday, Spring has now officially arrived. In rare cooperation with this fact, nature provided the Twin Cities area with a glorious spring day on Saturday. I celebrated by taking a break from watching basketball and taking my road bike out for its first official ride since I got it last fall. My buddy Dan planned a nice route along the St. Croix Trail from Lakeland to Prescott. It was quite a bit hillier than I would have liked for the first ride of the year, but we survived the relatively scenic route and managed about 40 miles on the afternoon. I suffered a rather embarassing crash 2 miles into it, slipping on a patch of ice and running into some bushes, but other than that the ride was rather uneventful.
Upon our successful return, we celebrated with some ice cream at Izzy’s, then I went home for an obligatory but well-earned nap. And since it was officially spring, I didn’t feel like I would be responsible for jinxing our good weather by making the first iced coffee of the year. I’m a bit rusty, it might take a few tries before I remember the right grind and process, though…
