twenty

while the marathon training has not gone quite as well as i would have hoped, this past weekend i managed to hit a pretty significant milestone, and not a moment too soon: i ran 20 miles in a single day. i have to admit that i could not have run much farther, and even to hit that mark i required a 20-minute pit-stop at home to take care of a little ‘janke stomach’ and properly rehydrate. just the same, i felt about as good as i ever have at the 10-mile mark, and if not for the stomach problems and dehydration i think i could have done the whole thing no problem. i can also say that those energy bars and goo things seem to help — and all this time i thought they were a gimmick. starting to look like i might be able to handle the marathon after all. only a few more weeks to go!

on an unrelated note, three-day weekends are awesome and there needs to be more than two of them per year.
