denverfest: day 2

day two in the land of steve was action-packed, so much so that it required an afternoon nap. we started the day relatively early (9am!) with a drive out to mt. evans, whose 14,000-foot summit can nearly be reached by car (and the trusty subaru was more than up to the challenge). i will admit to being a tad dizzy at that elevation but it was well worth it for the incredible views from up top. and there were quite a few hardcore folks present who had biked all the way up, putting us to shame. i’m not sure that even in my best shape i could have managed even a few hundred feet of that climb, these people were incredible.

on the way back we stopped at beau jo’s in idaho springs for pizza, which was excellent. seems obvious now where gps+d got its inspiration. we wandered around for a bit and found some coffee, but it was not enough to stave off a nap. after re-charging we rode the light rail to the rockies-giants game, and while i can’t say i really cared at all about who won, samm had managed to get us some fine seats, and it was a gorgeous evening to be outside, drinking beer and watching baseball (what a concept — outdoor baseball!) we finished the night with a stop at the wynkoop, a primate-themed brewery with some mighty tasty brews (the cask smoked porter and black lager were especially excellent… even the chile beer was well-done.)
